SUSTAINABILITY & FAQ

Fabrics

Our supplier ethically purchases fabrics to recycle such as blankets, artwork, historic carriage decorations and traditional clothing. Fair trade is honoured throughout this entire process.

Our supplier also supports the wider business community by working with neighbouring shops who are unable to sell their high quality fabrics. This is usually because the fabrics have been unsold for too long and might have some subtle faults. Instead of the retailer not being able to sell these items, our supplier often purchases these fabrics from his neighbours to recycle, cuts out or patches the subtle faults, and thereafter gives them a new life.

Our fabrics are premium quality and many are extremely rare.

Can you tell that the fabric is recycled?

Majority of our fabrics look as good as new (if not better!). They are high-quality, have been washed and well looked after. Some of our oldest fabrics have subtle blemishes as they can be up to 80 years old. If our garments have subtle blemishes then we make this clear at the top section of each product description.

Which fabrics are most rare?

  • Our One of a Kind Historic range
  • Hand sewn with unique embroidered detail
  • Traditional recycled clothing
  • Recycled sequins and sparkles
  • Naturally dyed

What are the working conditions like?

We met the wonderful team making our clothes in 2019 in India and it’s mostly still the same team making our clothes today! Our commitment to having the direct relationship with each supplier we work with means that we can personally trace our product from creation to completion. We know what the wage is for all of those involved in making the product and know that it is effortlessly above the National Living Wage in India. Our production line is transparent and we have a kind and personal relationship with the people involved.
