Favouring the Rich
India is home to more than 100 billionaires, the fourth greatest proportion on earth and when it comes to surviving Covid-19, the wealthy have a leg up—the government organised the vaccine rollout over the internet, but half the population don’t have access to it.
Amid India’s vaccination roll-out there is corruption brewing. Two thirds of India’s population are expected to pay to be vaccinated. This is because 50% of the vaccine supply was distributed to public hospitals at a set rate and the other 50% was distributed to private hospitals at any cost.

Vaccination Shortage
But hospitals are running out of vaccinations.
In Indian, officials did not prioritise the most vulnerable first which is one of the main reasons for the vaccination shortage.
Some states are now suspending vaccinations for the 18-44 years age group.
However, experts say ‘you cannot vaccinate yourself out of a surge’.
India’s drug manufacturers have seen the price of many raw materials they import from China, needed to fight Covid, skyrocket by as much as 300 per cent in recent weeks.
China’s drug manufacturers say it’s because they too face a shortage… that's another story!

Black Fungus is primarily affecting people recovering from COVID-19. Can you believe it!?
